From 1945 to 1954 Fort Wayne, Indiana was home to the Daisies of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League. The played at North Side Park for their first two seasons before moving to Memorial Park where the club enjoyed great success, making the playoffs each season from 1948-1954.

The Daisies featured some of the league's all time great players among the likes of Isabel "Lefty" Alvarez, Betty Foss and Dottie Collins. Leadership of the club provided some star power as well, MLB Hall of Famers Max Carey and Jimmie Foxx had stints managing the club, Foxx leading the team to first place in the league in 1951.
